Beautifully Broken
Beautifully Broken means embracing one's imperfections and pain, recognizing that past struggles can be a source of strength, growth, and unique beauty.
Aren't we all beautifully broken in one way or another? Whether it is from childhood trauma, domestic abuse, sexual assault, miscarriages, the loss of a child or loved one, or any other personal struggle that has left its mark on you, this blog is for you.
Let me share an old story with you. Many years ago, a mighty warrior in Japan shattered a beloved bowl. He sought the most skilled in their craft to restore it. The craftsman decided to embrace the brokenness of the bowl and use the cracks to tell a story of transformation. With delicate precision, he gently pieced together each fragment with a mixture of gold. When the bowl was restored, every gap shone with this gold elixir.
The warrior received the bowl and determined that it had become more valuable and beautiful than before. Its brokenness had enabled a master to transform it into a priceless treasure.
This practice is called Kintsugi, or golden joinery, and is still practiced today. It is thought to symbolize the beauty in imperfection and the value in broken things.
All beautiful things carry imperfections. Your wounds and imperfections are your beauty. Like the broken pottery mended with gold, we are all Kintsugi. Braking and mending are parts of a past that should not be hidden. Your wounds and healing are part of your history, a part of who you are. Every beautiful thing is damaged.
Let us all be flawed. You see, the most beautiful people are beautifully broken. Our hearts are heavy, but we love the deepest. We have seen the dark but appreciate everything that shines. You know extreme happiness only because you have seen extreme sadness. You know strength only because you were left to pick up the pieces of your heart. You know your worth only because someone treated you like you were worthless.
So let's put ourselves back together, every day if we have to. And be beautifully broken, perfectly imperfect, beautiful in our flaws and all together a beautiful disaster. Start by acknowledging your past struggles, then find ways to turn them into sources of strength and growth. Remember, it's okay to be flawed, it's okay to be broken, and it's okay to be beautifully imperfect.
For all of you, my beautifully broken friends, you turn brokenness into a thing of beauty and strength into something incredible. You carry the weight of the universe on your shoulders, yet you make it look like a pair of wings. Your experiences, your struggles, your healing, they all contribute to the unique beauty that is you.
Remember, being beautifully broken is not the end of your story. Let the light in, my beautifully broken souls. Your journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and your healing is a beacon of hope for others.
Until next time, I am thankful for all of you!
Stay Fearless!
