The Cost of Loving a Monster

I have big news, folks! I have officially started my new book "Monsters"; this story is based on a harrowing true story of a domestic abuse survivor. Sometimes you don't fear the monster, but you fall for him.

This story is not just a tale of pain, but also one of love, loss, and strength. You see, abusers don't always wear a monster face; sometimes they wear a wedding ring. Sometimes they kiss your forehead before they crush your soul. Domestic violence isn't only bruises and broken bones; it's every insult, every threat, every apology soaked in manipulation that carves scars deeper than any knife could ever do.

This survivor, who wishes to remain anonymous, is generously allowing me to share her story with the world. In fact, how we met was at an event, and within seconds of meeting each other, she knew she wanted me to write her story. Call it fate, call it destiny, but whatever it is, I am proud to share her story. Not every woman gets to tell her story. Some never make it out alive. That's why I will proudly write her story, because silence has buried too many. And if it helps just one person, if it is somehow a survival guide for someone in the same situation, then a higher power put us together that day for a reason.

This will be a work of fiction, but the core of the story will be based on her real-life experience.

Her resilience is a beacon of hope for every woman who finds herself living with a monster. It's a reminder that you can be your own rescuer, your own voice, your own shelter. And your scars? They're not a mark of shame, but a testament to your strength. They show that you fought a battle in your own home and chose to live. That choice, whenever it comes, is not just brave; it's transformative, offering a path to a brighter future.

The cost of loving a monster. He broke her more times than she could count, and still she kept choosing him. She believed love was enough. She forgave more than she should've, stayed longer than she deserved to, and loved harder than she was loved in return. She tried to give the monster the kind of love he had never known, and in return, she received the kind of pain she had never deserved.

Men who abuse women physically, emotionally, or mentally are often some of the nicest, good-looking, friendliest men you will ever meet. The devil doesn't come dressed in horns and a red cape; he comes disguised as everything you ever wished for. Monsters with angel faces.

She lived a nightmare. The kind of nightmare that smiles in public and destroys you in private. The kind that no one believed, because he looked so handsome and charming, while she looked tired and worn out. Yet she survived; she is not giving up, she is healing every day. Trauma doesn't live on a calendar. Sometimes the memory of the pain walks right back into your day, uninvited. You can't rush a heart back to whole, not when it was shattered by the very hands that once held it. Healing is messy. It's loud sometimes, and silent at others. It looks like pulling away, it looks like losing friends and family, it looks like crying in the shower and smiling through your day. But it's real and it's happening. Don't mistake her silence for surrender or her tears for defeat. She is not broken; she is becoming a warrior. Stronger, softer, smarter, wiser, louder, more careful, and more powerful, she is not who she used to be, and that's a good thing.

She's not crazy....she was abused.

She's not irrational...she carried pain that taught her to question her own reality.

She's not stupid...she was manipulated

She's not shy...she's protecting herself

She's not bitter...she's speaking the truth

She's not angry...she is awake

Unbreakable, Unfiltered, and Unapologetic

No lesson in life comes without a cost. I will tell you life taught her and she paid the ultimate price. That is the cost loving a monster.

Stay tuned for updates on my new book "Monsters"

Until next time folks. Stay fearless!
