Dress How You Want to be Addressed.
Dear Fellow Goddesses,
You should dress how you want to be addressed.
The old saying, "Dress like a clown, get treated like a clown," is 100% true!
When women dress immodestly, it's like rolling around in manure.
Yes! You'll get lots of attention, but mostly from PIGS!
Now, I know what you are thinking: I am telling you all what to wear or how to dress. That is not the case. I am all for individuality and doing you!
It's just that sometimes I worry about the trends that I see in our society these days. You can not turn on the TV, browse the internet, or open a magazine without seeing a fixation on women's bodies. The media is continuously feeding women and girls the message that good looks and perfect bodies determine happiness and success. Most women don't even realize that all of those photos have been doctored before being put in front of our eyes.
It is no wonder that so many women, and FAR too many teens and girls are obsessed with how they look. They want to be beautiful, just like the women that they see in the media every day. Part of that desirability, according to the media, lies in clothing, ESECIALLY revealing clothing.
With this fixation on female bodies it often leads to self-objectification, which just means when we focus all our energy on becoming something beautiful for others to admire. Which in turn causes body shame, body dissatisfaction, anxiety, depression and a unfulfilled and unhappy life.
I am out and about, attending many events promoting all my books. There are a lot of little girls running around in shorts with their butt cheeks hanging out, see-through clothing, or tiny scraps of fabric barely covering their bodies. Now, parents, I am not telling anyone how to dress or how to dress your children, but.....just a little something to think about.
What is the first thing you do when you buy a new phone?
You buy an anti-scratch sticker and a cover, right?
Did someone force you to do so?
Do you think it's an insult to the manufacturer to cover the phone and protect it from damage?
Do you cover it because it is ugly or cheap?
NO!
When you put the cover on, did it reduce the phone's beauty?
NO!
We protect our phones more than we protect our children's bodies. Indecent dressing and exposure of our bodies reduce our value and respect.
In a perfect world, women should be able to dress however they like, and men should respect them no matter what. But this is not an ideal world; monsters live in plain sight, waiting and watching. So don't wear a meat suit in a lions den!
I believe that we all need to understand that our bodies are AMAZING, and BEAUTIFUL, and CAPABLE of so much more than simply looking pretty or sexy. Our bodies allow us to run, dance, sing, play, solve problems, create life. Although our bodies may be attractive to men, they are NOT created solely for others to admire. Our bodies are just a small part of who we truly are.
Modesty isn't about hiding your body but revealing your dignity.
I want you all to dress how you want to be addressed, what that means to you I will let you decide. But know your worth is not determined by how much of your body you reveal. Know the media has LIED to us all about what real beauty is all about. You are all so much more than just a beautiful object for men to desire.
You all do you. Just something to think about....
Until next time, stay classy, goddesses!
