Adulting is so hard; it is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by a plane.
You are going along, working your job.
When B.A.M.! the electric bill skyrockets an extra $ 100 because it is a million degrees outside, and you would like to be cool, your car insurance sends an email that they are increasing your payment by $ 50 due to inflation. Your house payment goes up $200 extra monthly because the school needed to spend a small fortune on unnecessary things. Groceries are so high that you must decide between healthy fruit/vegetables or processed poison, and your bank account only allows poison. So poison it is. You drive to a different town only to save 20 cents on a gallon of gas, Yet you are not making any more money; how are you supposed to live? Feeling trapped in this cycle of financial decisions. You would love to stop at the coffee shop and get a delicious iced coffee for an afternoon pickup, but doing the calculations, if you acted on your coffee addiction, you would be spending an extra $200 a month. So groggy and tired you stay.
God forbid you would get sick and need to go to the doctor! Let's say, for argument's sake, that you have a chronic illness and need to see a doctor. So, you make an appointment with your primary doctor. They look at you and say oh, it may be .......? (they like the through the cancer word out a lot, F.Y.I.) I need to send you to a specialist. Great, the next appointment isn't for two months. In the meantime, you are still struggling with symptoms, and on top of that, the anxiety of what may be wrong with you is gripping. So you wait and wait and wait. Finally, you go to the so-called specialist, and guess what? It isn't......(a deadly disease), but you need medication from a particular pharmacy and a procedure. Great! But now your insurance company needs to authorize both the procedure and the meds. Well, big shock: both are expensive, and your insurance company says they won't cover you. Now, you're still in pain and suffering, but you have to get ahold of your doctors, which is next to impossible because they don't take calls and don't respond to portal messages. And forget talking to your insurance company, you will never get a real person on the line. Ugg! I guess you die.
You keep your head down and work, work, work, and work, and one day, you look up and wonder how you got here. You look around for an adult for help and realize you are the adult. Yikes!
When you're a kid, you can not wait to become an adult. Make your own decisions; no one will tell you what and when to do things. You are free. HA HA HA!
As an adult, every possible person you come in contact with will tell you:
Do this, eat that, work out, drink enough water, be skinny, but not too skinny, be happy, wear this, not that, raise your kids like this, make money...make more money, pay your bills, drive this, sleep 8 hours, have a clean house, have a perfect yard, never age, be strong, stand up for yourself but not too much because they will call you a bit**, be yourself...but not like that, and never ever put a picture that is unfiltered on social media sites no one wants to see the real you!
Adulting is hard, overrated, overpriced, and exhausting! I would not recommend it.
Until next time...Keep smiling, and that's enough todaying for today. I'm done.
